Hello friends. It’s been ages since I’ve dusted off the keyboard and started typing away. The reality is, for the kind of entrepreneurial aims I have in mind, video is a far more effective media vector for reaching a surf audience. Recently, my efforts have faded away from Substack and have been thrust into Youtube and Instagram. Creating videos educating people who are just beginning their surf journey, creating surf spot reviews (no secret spots), and bringing professional surf coaches on to analyze my surfing and give me things to improve upon. Much like surfing, the progress has been essentially unrecognizable when viewed day by day, however, quite dramatic when I look back on it. I’d write more about the surf progression, but I’ve already made a video about it, which you can view here if you’d like.
As you can see, in my recent trip to Indonesia I broke a few mental barriers and really started to push myself to the limits. This feeling of giving it your all, or for a lack of a better term, ‘F***ing sending it’ is something I’ll be chasing for the rest of my life.
My next chapter will be in Nicaragua, as I plan on staying there over the next 5 months to fully take advantage of the swell season. Nicaragua is the ideal spot for beginner to intermediate surfers as the waves are consistent yet far less consequential than a place like Indonesia. In these next few months I hope to really hone in on my barrel riding ability and surf style. Additionally, I’m stoked to open up an avenue to connect with those who have been following along my journey and share a passion for surfing. I’ll be opening up a ‘Surfing with Pat’ experience where followers and subscribers can come stay with me in Nicaragua, and I’ll show them the ropes on where and when to surf.
I think that’s about all I got on my mind right now. Cheers everyone.
